Friends of Forest Park offers a regular series of guided hikes focusing on the natural and cultural history of our this region.

Forest Park Discovery Hike Series:

Friends of Forest Park offers an annual series of guided hikes. This is a great opportunity to get outside and learn more about the Natural and Cultural History of our area.
A sampling of hike topics:

  • Wildlife Tracking
  • Ancient Forest Ecology
  • Microcosmos: Insect life cycles
  • Neighborhood history hikes 
  • Educational hikes for kids

The 2007 series features an expanded series of hikes, covering a wide variety of topics and terrain for all ages. Also included in this year's calendar will be regular visits to the Old Growth parcel owned by Friends of Forest Park.

Forest Park Quest:

A volunteer committee is currently working on the Forest Park Quest, a self-guided set of educational “treasure hunts” designed to engage children and their adults in the discovery of place and inspire a sense of awe and appreciation for our natural environment. A series of hikes based on the quests is offered through the Discovery Hike Series.
