Overheard...

I had an absolutely terrific time working on the bridge on Saturday. Truth be told, I was sore, but again it was so fun and gratifying!

Trails Program

Friends of Forest Park has a Trails Management Program to repair and improve the trail system.

Trails Management Program

Friends of Forest Park leads volunteer trail crews retaining walland raises over $100,000 annually to manage and improve Forest Park's impressive trail system. Part of our work involves contrating with AmeriCorps to have an EnviroCorps team working in Forest Park for a total of 45 days.

Beginning in 2007, FFP will employ a full-time seasonal Trail Program Coordinator. With direction from Portland Parks and Recreation, this individual will direct AmeriCorps and volunteer crews.

Remember the landslide at mile marker 14.5 on the Wildwood Trail, or the Maple Trail damage from the 2005-6 winter? Thank Friends of Forest Park and our trail crew leader for the trail repair. We also arrange for new trail projects in Forest Park. In 2006, we completed two new trails: the Firelane 5 Extension and the Cannon Trail.
